Mortgage Interest Rates
To ask the Minister for Finance his views on the predicted increase in mortgage interest rates in 2011, which will add further financial pressure to hard-pressed homeowners, many of whom it is believed will fall behind on payments or face selling their homes as a result; and if he will make a statement on the matter Education

Showgrounds FermoyTo ask the Minister for Defence his plans with regard to the showgrounds in Fermoy, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.DEPUTY SEÁN SHERLOCK.FOR WRITTEN ANSWER ON THURSDAY, 29TH JANUARY, 2009 Minister for Defence (Mr. Willie O'Dea, T.D.): The property in question is surplus to military requirements and consideration is being given to its disposal. In this connection, Department officials met with the stakeholders in December 2008 to ascertain if they would have an interest in acquiring the portion of the property that they currently occupy. The matter remains under consideration in my Department with a view to making a formal offer to each of the parties based on valuations, which will be obtained in the coming weeks. |
